This is a copy from the original certificate. Hand written text toward the middle of the page states that “John Montanee a native of Africa Aged 70 yrs. ,departed this life this day (23rd August 1885) at (?) 89 N. Villere in this city. Cause of Death. Brights Disease. “A. Montanee” is the first signature on the certificate.
